YPR's learning platform: self-paced life-skills courses for young people and CE-eligible trainings for the professionals who support them, now being rebuilt as a custom LMS with no plugins.
RecoveryEdX turned Young People in Recovery's curriculum into a platform. Launched on LearnDash and WooCommerce, it serves two audiences from one login: My Future Is EPIC, the essential life-skills curriculum for ages 14 to 18 as a $20-a-month subscription, and a catalog of free and $25 CE-eligible trainings for peer recovery coaches and behavioral-health professionals, with certificates. In 2026 the ten official staff trainings moved into the YPR Team Portal, and the public platform is being rebuilt from scratch as a custom theme: native course, lesson and quiz types, its own enrollment, progress and certificate tables, a hand-rolled Stripe checkout, and a flagship EPIC page with a live demo quiz.
We turned a national movement's curriculum into a platform that teaches at scale, and then set out to rebuild it without the plugins.
YPR's life-skills curriculum and professional trainings lived in binders, slide decks and in-person sessions. To reach young people, and the professionals who support them, everywhere, it had to become a real learning platform doing two very different jobs: teach teenagers essential life skills, and train practitioners credibly enough to carry continuing-education credit.
Two years in, the platform works but carries weight: a page builder inside every lesson, a commerce plugin for a handful of products, and a learning plugin whose data model nobody on the team can change. The rebuild keeps everything real that the platform has earned and drops everything it has outgrown.

Launch the platform
Two paths in from one homepage: youth life-skills and professional CE trainings. Simple registration with Google sign-in, progress tracking, lifetime access, and a catalog that mixes free foundational courses with focused paid trainings.
Grow the catalog
Fourteen published courses: Chapter Orientation with a certificate, three Health Equity trainings, the EPIC subscription, four $25 CEU courses from peer coaching to supporting young mothers, and free courses on inclusive outreach, gender-inclusive recovery, asset mapping, harm reduction and job readiness.
Move staff training home
The ten official courses chapter leads must take moved into the YPR Team Portal as YPR Trainings, with lesson unlocking, required videos, quizzes and emailed PDF certificates that anyone can verify, so staff training lives where staff already sign in.
Rebuild without the plugins
A new theme with native course, lesson, quiz and certificate types and its own tables for enrollments, progress, certificates and orders. All 16 courses, 62 lessons and 13 real quizzes migrated from the LearnDash data, with honest placeholders where the source lessons were empty. Free enrollment, a lesson player, quiz scoring, printable certificates, a Stripe checkout for one-time and subscription courses, real brand assets, course thumbnails pulled from the original platform, and a flagship My Future Is EPIC page with the eight modules, the demo video, measured outcomes and a live sample quiz.
